Diving in Mallorca

Discover the beautiful underwater world of Portocolom

Diving with us

…always takes place by boat, is led by a certified guide and adapted to the weather and the group’s ability. We’re happy to rent you equipment from well-known brands. To take part, you need a diving certification, a health declaration and proof of dive accident insurance. Divers under 18 need the signature of a parent or legal guardian.

Missing any of these? Don’t worry – just talk to us and we’ll sort it out together.

Portocolom in particular has many tunnels, arches and stunning rock formations where you can see barracuda, groupers and many other fish.

Boat

All dives are from boats with ladders for getting in and out.

Time

How long a dive lasts depends on your air consumption and the no-decompression limit.

More about our dives

We meet at our dive centre in Portocolom and briefly go through the necessary paperwork together. Then we show you around and hand out your equipment for you to assemble. We change at the dive centre and just cross the road to our boats. There we stow our gear and enjoy the 5–20 minute ride to the first dive site. We’re happy to take requests for specific sites – if the weather and the group allow, we’ll do our best to make it happen and give you an unforgettable experience. Many of our sites have arches, swim-throughs, small tunnels or caverns. Stunning rock formations await you, and where there are rocks, there’s life. The list of Mediterranean residents is long, from crabs and sea snails just a few millimetres in size to large barracuda, groupers and rays – the latter like to rest in the sand, so it’s worth taking a closer look. Schools of bream, salema and damselfish are almost always around, and moray eels and octopuses often show themselves too. Of course, we’ll also be happy to point out small red and yellow corals, beautiful anemones and tube worms.

Whether it’s a one-way dive with the boat following us, a loop around the site or a dive with a turnaround point – your bottom time depends on your air consumption and staying within no-decompression limits. Back at the boat, a comfortable ladder makes it easy to climb aboard, and you’re welcome to take off your gear on board. Once we’re back at our jetty, we carry the cylinders to the dive centre and enjoy a break there.

Dripping wet? Come on in! We’re a dive centre – everything here is made to get wet 😉

After a surface interval of about 20 minutes, we head back to the boat with a full cylinder and go to the second dive site. After each dive, our outdoor benches are the perfect place to sit for a while, fill in your logbook and swap stories.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to take part in a dive?

You must show proof of a completed dive course.

In Spain, divers must have insurance that covers hyperbaric chamber treatment in the event of a diving accident.

When signing up, every diver confirms in writing that they hold a medical certificate stating they are fit to dive, and fills in a questionnaire about their current health.

Anyone under 18 must come to the dive centre with a parent or legal guardian, who signs on their behalf.

I haven’t dived for a year or more. Do I need a refresher course?

It’s easy to forget more than you think. Talk to us and we’ll work out whether a refresher makes sense in your case.

I don’t have a diving certification or can’t prove it. Can I still take part?

Some organisations let us check certifications online. Otherwise, you’re welcome to join our try dive or complete an Open Water Diver course with us.
